Annagh Hill National School
Annother great day at school

From left to right : Holly Taylor, Hannah Taylor, Bart Walczak, Dora Hargitai, Nicole Bolte, Rainer Bolte, Jack Taylor, Dominique Hance

On the 21stJune we followed an invitation from Bart`s school, the Annagh Hill NS, It was a really nice "extra training session" for us - but also a nice opportunity to present our sport to highly interested youngsters. Would be great to see some of them in our fencing hall in Claregalway soon.

The standard attitudes in this "knightly" sport : Holly and Bart shake hands after the fight.
 Dora and Jack
Well done, Jack ! But you are sure he was a volunteer, are you ?   :-)

What a great feedback.... !
A letter from the Carnmore National School

Thanks again for your kind invitation and the opportunity to present this challenging combat sport. It was a great atmosphere - you were sporty,  open minded and really interested. Just great to find such a number of young talents in one spot. We definitely hope to see at least some of you in our training sessions in Claregalway soon. Don`t be shy, please. Just drop in....

The pleasure was truly on our side !!!

Our raven abroad
Peter on the German Championship !

Due to his great performance in foil fencing in 2016 Peter Mundt qualified for the German Championship for the first time. This year this most important German fencing event took place on the 30thApril in the Hermann Neuberger Sports School in Saarbrücken. He won a few fights and ranked somewhere in the middle field - but nevertheless :
Thanks a lot, Peter !  Well done !
Trooping our club badge on such an event makes us ravens proud !

27th April : Our contribution to the "Active School Week 2016" at Carnmore National School
The next generation...... !?!

For their "Active School Week" the children voted "fencing" pretty high on their wish list. So when teacher Yvonne contacted us we couldn`t resist : Six fencers (incl. coach) of the CFC were proud to present this challenging sport in front of the pupils. Really good fun !

A little warm up lesson for the presenting fencers....

...and then of course a few explanations in terms of the weapons, the rules, the equipment ....

 ..... the footwork.

Everybody had a chance to take a weapon in hands.

But after watching a few fights - here Bart on the left and Saoirse on the right....

or Dominique on the left and Dora on the right ...

there was a chance for the brave to go into a first lesson with Rainer the coach :

Just great to meet these talents - leading us to the warm and cosy feeling that there will be a bright future for fencing sports in the West !
A real pleasure for us - thanks a lot again for this opportunity to the Carnmore NS !

30th and 31st Jan.2016 : Prof. Duffy Team Epee
Our Lady Ravens :   WHAT A TEAM !!!

On Sunday 31st Jan.the CFC started first time with a ladies team on Prof. Duffy Memorial Team Epee Event at Trinity Sports Center in Dublin.

Brilliant fights - a pleasure to watch :

The first hit for the team - scored by Francesca Salina (left).

The same harsh attack - a different opponent : Francesca scores again....

Tactics, patience and precision : Dominique Hance (left) did a great job....

... also in this purely american encounter.

Power, speed and experience : Lise Blanc (left) filled her role as a team captain and anchor lady perfectly.

Going into the last fight in this team match, 5 hits behind at the beginning : Lise scores 10 hits within 2min13sec - this last double wins it......  cloud 7 for the old CFC coach....  :-)

So at the end -
look at these pictures and guess what the ranking was :
From left to right : Francesca Salina , Dominique Hance , Lise Blanc

.... and what about the boys ?
The CFC epee team started on Saturday 30th. From left to right: Mark Loughnane, Andrei Barcovchi, Rainer Bolte and Ronan Cranny.

Well, we had our fun ...

- We won the first match in the Morning vs. DUFC.
- We lost our match against Solingen (Germany).
- We won against Pembrook (...not bad ; they won silver at the end of the day...)
- We lost against Trinity.

( ... and hope you are not that interested in reading the small print :-)

The men`s team ranking at the end of the day ?
No idea to be honest.
Thanks a lot - it was a great weekend in Dublin !
